Shibani Kashyap records single with Mika
Singer Shibani Kashyap has paired up with Mika Singh for the first time for a Punjabi track, ‘Soneya’, a Times Music release.
She says, “I have known Mika for over 15 years and we have always wanted to do a song together. But we found time only now. Also, despite being a Punjabi, I have never sung a song in that language and I wanted to do it. Doing a Hindi track with Mika would have been very predictable. The video is very bright, uptempo and features us in stylish avatars.”
The music of the single has been done in electronic dance space – the song is folk, but its music is international, sans traditional instruments. This is one of the songs in the Indipop album Shibani has worked on. “I will keep releasing the songs one by one. I feel Indipop has immense potential and is going to be back in a big way,” she concludes.
